COSTA MESA -- It was another solid performance for the Orange Coast College track and field teams on Friday during their tri-meet with Cuyamaca and El Camino.
On the men's side, the Pirates earned 75 points to win the meet, while Cuyamaca scored 49 points and El Camino earned 39. On the women's side, El Camino earned two wins with 60 points, while OCC came in with 51 points and Cuyamaca finished with 33.

The Coast women finished with 243 points, finishing behind Riverside's 308 points. On the men's side, the result was the same as Riverside placed first with 317 points and OCC (158) took runner-up.

COSTA MESA -- Under cold, windy and wet conditions, the 2009 Orange Empire Conference Relays were completed on Friday at Orange Coast College and despite the six-team field, both sides were a two-team slugfest between the host Pirates and Riverside College. On the men's side, the Pirates edged out Riverside with 123 points. The Tigers finished with 117, while Golden West (44), Fullerton (39), Santa Ana (32) and Santiago Canyon (31) rounded out the scoring. On the women's side, it was the Tigers leading the way with 124 points, while OCC took runner-up with 108 points. Fullerton (40), Golden West (33), Santa Ana (32) and Santiago Canyon (7) complete the order of finish.

Mission accomplished for freshman standout Cassie Mitchell as she further blazed an already-scorched track at Cerritos College by winning state steeplechase title with a school-record time of 10 minutes, 59.39 seconds.
